Blue Lagoon Terms & Cancellation Policy

Most tourists that travel to Iceland have at least thought about stopping in at Blue Lagoon, but sometimes problems pop up and you aren’t able to experience the Lagoon. Below we have all the details needed to make sure you don’t have any troubles with making a cancellation or changing a reservation. Even if you don’t end up making it to the Blue Lagoon there are still countless other jewels like the Dynjandi Waterfall way out at the Westfjords of Iceland.

1. Booking Cancellation

1a. Blue Lagoon Cancellation

All cancellation requests have to be sent to Blue Lagoon via email to contact@bluelagoon.com. Blue Lagoon refunds different amounts based on how far in advance you cancel, but will keep at least 10% not matter what.

  • Cancel 4 days or more in advance: 90% refund
  • Cancel 2 to 4 days in advance: 50% refund
  • Cancel less than 48 hours in advance: No refund

1b. Retreat Spa Cancellation

All cancellation requests have to be sent to Blue Lagoon via email at retreatspa@bluelagoon.com. Blue Lagoon refunds different amounts based on how far in advance you cancel, but will keep at least 10% not matter what.

Blue Lagoon has the right to change/cancel any bookings or reservations if problems arrives like mechanical failures, bad weather, etc. In the event that your reservation is cancelled due to outside sources, you will be entitled to either a full refund or reschedule free of charge.

2. Booking Changes

Even the most well-planned trip can run into some speed bumps. In the case of reservations at the Blue Lagoon, you can make changes to your booking with a small fee of ISK 1400 (about $11 USD) for each change you require. Keep in mind that if you make a change that lowers the overall cost of your order, you will not be refunded the difference. Also, if your original booking date and time has already passed then you are not able to make changes any more.

3. Prices, Payments, & Taxes

First off, all purchases that you make through the Blue Lagoon website require an up-front, full payment from a credit card – so no down payments or payment plans. Take note that the default currency on their website is in EUR. To change the currency setting you just start the booking process and the option to select ISK, USD, or GBP will appear. However, then end of the transaction will ultimately appear in ISK so keep that in mind. Prices may also include taxes, service fees, and VAT where appropriate. Prices are subject to change at any moment, but if you’ve already received an invoice then the price is guaranteed to stay the same unless government laws or currency changes.

4. Purchasing Online

Even if you do an online purchase for serveral services or products, your admission is based upon availabilty when you visit. This includes all services or products at the location, like restaurants, massage reservations, gifts, and more. If any of the services/products that you ordered are not available during your visit then you can receive a refund for that specific service/product or swap your booking to another day/time free of any extra charge.

5. Electronic Tickets

Once you book your visit on the Blue Lagoon website you will be emailed a ticket with a barcode on it. This is highly important because it will be scanned when you arrive so either have it printed or have it pulled up on your phone or device.

Tickets are only vaild for one use so don’t even try using it the next day or anything else sneaky. Attempting to resell your ticket will result in a cancellation without any refund or compensation – so don’t even try buying tickets from anyone else. These tickets are not lottery tickets, so obviously you cannot redeem a ticket for cash.

The date and time you choose during booking is the only time that the tickets will be valid. Blue Lagoon cannot guarantee any availability if you show up outside of your pre-booked date and time.

Private changing rooms at the Retreat Spa are reserved only for the date and time selected at your booking. Your 4 hour time slot starts at the specified arrival time from your booking. If your arrival is delayed, unfortunately your stay will not be extended.
